Personal Background and Education:

Prof. Hua-Shu Hsu studied at the National Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan, where he received his BS and Ms degree from the Department of physics in 1999, resp. 2002. After graduating, he studied at the National Cheng Kung University, where he received his PhD degree from the Department of physics in 2006.

In the period 8/2008 - 8/2013 he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Dep. of Applied Physics at the National Pingtung University of Education in Taiwan. He has been habilitated at the same university in 8/2018 and from the 2/2018 he is a professor of applied physics.

Since 7/2020, he is the Director of the Mt. Dawu Center of Social Engagement and Sustainable Development and the Dean of R&D Office at the National Pingtung University.

Research interests:

The Magneto-Opto-Electronics group led by Prof. Hua-Shu Hsu focuses on the development and physical characterization of new functional materials with novel spin-polarized band structures that induce desirable photophysical properties, especially for magneto-optical effects, such as magneto-absorption and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) and Faraday effect by magneto-optic spectroscopy for magneto-optoelectronics applications.
