Position: Full Professor and Leader of photocatalytic group at the Institute of Environmental Technology of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies, VSB - Technical University Ostrava, Czech Republic

At the NANOCON´23 conference Prof. Kamila Kočí will present the lecture “Photocatalytic reduction of CO2” in Session B - Industrial and Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials.

Personal Background and Education:
Prof. Kamila Kočí obtained his MSc. degree in Technical physical and analytical chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague, the Czech Republic (1990), her Ph.D. in Chemical Metallurgy from the VSB - Technical University Ostrava (VSB-TUO), Czech Republic (2008) and Professor (Prof.) of Environment Protection, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mining and Geology. She started working at the VSB- Technical University Ostrava in 2007 as a senior lecturer. From the year 2011, she worked as the Associate Professor at the VSB - Technical University Ostrava and she has been working as the Professor of Environment Protection at the same institution since 2016. Currently, she is the Leader of the photocatalytic group at the Institute of Environmental Technology established at the VSB-TUO in 2014.

Research interests:
Research interests of Kamila Kočí are in the area of physico-chemical properties of nanostructured photocatalysts, heterogeneous photocatalysis, kinetics and mechanisms of photochemical reaction and chemical engineering. The Group led by K. Kočí studies particularly the efficiency of photocatalysts for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 (in liquid and gaseous phase), photocatalytic decomposition of methanol (in liquid phase) and photocatalytic decomposition N2O. Research is also focused on the advanced oxidation processes for cleaning waste gases.

Selected Awards and Scholarships:
The previous publication was awarded: K. Kočí, et. al. Effect of TiO2 particle size on photocatalytic reduction of CO2. Appl. Catal. B 89 (2009) 494-502. As of November/December 2019, this highly cited paper received enough citations to place it in the top 1% of the academic field of Chemistry based on a highly cited threshold for the field and publication year.
